Contractors' All Risks (CAR) is property insurance for any building or civil engineering project, covering the works on site during the construction period and, if required, the maintenance period. It indemnifies against unforeseen and sudden physical loss or damage and normally includes legal liability to third parties. Only the principal and the contractor(s) can be insured under a CAR policy.
